Service: Tap Replacement

Location: Nottingham

Client: Domestic

A homeowner in Nottingham required a bath tap replacement after their existing taps had reached the end of their lifespan. While replacing bath taps is usually a straightforward task, this project presented a significant challenge due to limited access beneath the bath. In particular, a basin and vanity unit limited the available working space, making it more difficult to reach and replace the existing taps. Despite these constraints, our engineer was able to complete the installation efficiently using specialist equipment and techniques.

The Challenge: Bath Tap Replacement with Limited Working Space

The main challenge with this bath tap replacement was gaining access to the existing tap connections. The bathroom basin and cabinet reduced the available space around the bath, creating a confined working area for the engineer. What would normally be a routine tap replacement required a more careful and considered approach due to the restricted access.

Working in tight spaces can make it more difficult to remove old fittings and install new ones safely. The engineer needed to ensure the existing taps could be removed without damaging surrounding fixtures while maintaining a high standard of workmanship throughout the installation. The customer’s expectation was a professional bathroom tap replacement with minimal disruption and a reliable end result.

The Solution: 3 Step Specialist Tap Installation

Despite the restricted access caused by the nearby basin and vanity unit, our engineer was able to complete the bath tap replacement safely and efficiently using specialist equipment and proven installation techniques.

Step One: Using Specialist Equipment

To overcome the access limitations, the engineer attended with professional plumbing equipment, including a Tapex kit designed for working in difficult-to-reach areas. This enabled safe access to the existing tap fixings despite the reduced working space around the bath.

Step Two: Removing and Replacing the Existing Taps

Once access had been established, the old bath taps were carefully removed. The customer had already supplied the replacement taps, allowing the engineer to proceed directly with the tap installation. Wearing appropriate PPE throughout the installation, the engineer securely fitted the new taps and connected them to the existing plumbing system, ensuring a professional finish and reliable performance.

Step Three: Thorough Testing and Final Checks

Following the installation, the new taps were tested to ensure they were functioning correctly. Water flow and connections were checked, and the engineer carried out final inspections to confirm the bath tap replacement had been completed to a high standard. Once the work was finished, the area was left clean and tidy for the customer.

The Outcome: Successful Bathroom Tap Replacement

Despite the restricted access created by the surrounding bathroom fixtures, the bath tap replacement and installation was completed successfully during a single appointment. The engineer was able to remove the existing taps, install the new customer-supplied replacements and verify that everything was operating as intended.

The completed bathroom tap replacement provided the customer with fully functioning new bath taps without the need for additional work or disruption. By combining specialist tools with expert knowledge, the Metro Plumb engineer was able to overcome the access challenges, deliver a professional installation, and provide a long-lasting solution that met the customer’s needs.
