Our Commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)
At Metro Plumb, we recognise our responsibility to contribute positively to the environment and the community around us. Our ESG strategy is integral to our operations, guiding our decisions and actions to ensure sustainable and ethical practices across all areas of our business.
Helping the Country With Their Plumbing and ESG
We are committed to helping the environment, the local communities and the people around us in as many ways as we can. We are always looking for ways to expand our ESG efforts to become a more sustainable and ethical business, as well as to provide a better service for our customers.
Find out more about our ESG efforts below.

Environmental Responsibility
We aim to reduce our environmental impact through responsible practices, innovation, and transparency, including:
Local offices across the UK – we’re within 1 hours drive of 85% of commercial businesses in the UK, which reduces travel time for our plumbers, meaning lower carbon emissions
Upskilling our plumbers in renewable services – A selection of our plumbers can offer air source heat pump services, including installation, servicing and repair
Assisting with water leaks – our plumbers are trained to stop and repair water leaks, preventing as much water loss as possible
Waste carrier licenses – Our plumbers have waste carrier licenses, which ensure any waste produced from our jobs is disposed of correctly and safely, as well as helping to ensure that as much of it is recycled as possible
Tree planting scheme – We work with Review Forest and the Eden Project to ensure that for every review on our Google profiles, a tree is planted in Africa, no matter if the review is good or bad. This has helped to plant thousands of trees! Check out our forest here
Social Impact
We strive to create a diverse, inclusive, and fair environment while positively impacting the communities we serve, some of the things we do to achieve this are:
Hiring from the local community – all our plumbers live in the area where they work, meaning they have knowledge of the local community and are more likely to engage in community activities
Training and upskilling our plumbers – We have a team of trainers available to upskill our plumbers across the UK, as well as hiring apprentices to upskill school leavers and unskilled workers
Health and safety programmes – our plumbers have to complete a risk assessment and tick to say the site is “safe to work” on every job, and we also have an incident reporting tool to capture near misses to prevent accidents
Diversion and equality – We encourage this across our workforce and we support minority groups, hiring people of different genders, races and religions across our franchise network as well as in our Support Centre
Veteran support – A substantial number of our plumbers are ex-military or have links to the military
Local sponsorships – Our franchisees sponsor a wide array of local groups and events, such as children’s football clubs, dance clubs and community events, helping to give back to the community around them
Charity fundraising – Our franchisees take part in a variety of charity events across the UK, and we also have national charity partnerships with charities like DoSport and Andy’s Man Club. Our most recent charity initiative was a sky dive in aid of White Lodge Centre, a centre that provides support for children and families with disabilities. Across the Metro Plumb and Metro Rod group, we had 10 brave volunteers who jumped from 15,000 feet to raise over £10,000!
Volunteer days – As part of our employee benefits at the Support Centre, each employee is entitled to one paid day off every year to volunteer for a charity of their choice – this adds to over 100 volunteer days across the company!
Menopause training – we run regular menopause training sessions as well as share webinars and informational content with our staff to educate them on menopause and the different effects that it can have on the human body.
Governance & Ethics
We operate with integrity, transparency, and accountability at every level of our business. Here are some of our policies to convey this:
Modern slavery statement – We undertake regular reviews of our supply chain and sub-contractors, as well as undertaking a full Right to Work in the UK employment checks with supplementary checks such as DBS or Credit Checks for certain roles, and pay our staff the National Minimum Wage / National Living Wage rates to ensure we prevent modern slavery across our business
Equal Opportunities Policy – Our policy outlines that we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants, and aim to create a working environment in which individuals are able to make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment, and in which all decisions are based on merit
Sustainable Procurement Policy – Our policy outlines that we are committed to addressing sustainable procurement by adopting the key elements of sustainability, namely, environmental quality, social justice, and economic prosperity. We recognise that the products and services we procure have both environmental and social impacts and are committed to addressing these through our procurement procedures. Our policy for sustainable procurement will be to acquire products and services that meet the Customer’s needs, deliver long term value for money, maximise social and economic benefits, and minimise damage to the environment and health, and to improve the lives of those in the communities in which we work
Data Protection Policy – Our policy outlines that the organisation needs to collect and use certain types of information about staff, clients and other individuals who come in to contact with the company in order to operate. in addition, we may be required by law to collect and use certain types of information to comply with statutory obligations of Local Authorities, government agencies and other bodies. This personal information must be dealt with properly, however it is collected, recorded and used — whether on paper, in a computer, or recorded on other material – and there are safeguards to ensure this is within the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018
