When a customer upgraded their pump system, they needed a larger water storage tank to meet the increased demand and ensure reliable performance. The Challenge: Insufficient Water Storage Capacity
The customer needed a larger system that could support their demands while maintaining a consistent and reliable water supply throughout the property. The project presented several challenges. The existing tank had to be removed safely, and the larger tank required a completely new support structure. In addition, the existing pipework layout was designed around the previous installation, meaning alterations would be required to integrate the new cold water tank effectively and ensure the upgraded system operated correctly.

To meet the customer’s needs, Metro Plumb Walton-on-Thames carried out a full cold water tank replacement, removing the existing tank and preparing the loft space for a larger installation.
The new water storage tank selected for the project was a 75-gallon coffin tank, providing significantly greater capacity to support the upgraded pump system. As the larger tank needed additional structural support, the team constructed a bespoke timber platform designed to safely accommodate the increased size and weight of the installation.
Once the platform was complete, the team installed and secured the tank before adapting the existing pipework to suit the new layout. They ensured all connections were compatible with the upgraded system and integrated the new water storage tank with the property’s plumbing infrastructure for efficient operation.
Following installation, all pipework connections were completed, and the system was fully tested and commissioned.
